Junior Software Developer

We seek a creative, innovative Database Application Developer for ongoing contractual work. The initial project is a rare opportunity to be involved in the design and build of a comprehensive software product from the very beginning.

Primary Responsibilities

You will work with the Chief Architect and the Program Manager on developing a new software product from scratch, through customer-delivery and implementation. Your primary responsibility is to perform the necessary programming and development for the successful completion of the software project. An interest and ability to learn is paramount to your success.

What you need to succeed:

Knowledge of:
  • Relational database concepts.
  • SQL programming (PL/SQL an asset).
  • Front-end development with Oracle tools (SQL Developer, Application Express, other)
  • Scripting and file transfer techniques.
  • Computer Science or Computer Engineering education (or demonstrable equivalent experience)
  • Minimum 1-year full-time work experience.
Technical:
  • Oracle Database 10g.
  • Development tools: Oracle SQL Developer and Oracle Application Express.
  • SQL and PL/SQL development skills (stored procedures, packages, triggers, functions, etc.)

Working details

  • General: We work in a flexible, adaptable manner, while maintaining the required discipline to ensure the project's success. Working hours are not rigid, as long as we stay within reasonable parameters.
  • Working day: As consultants, we define a working day as anywhere between 7-9 hours, flexible as per the nature of the software business (exception in next point).
  • Working week: The position is a full-time position with a bonus twist: five days a week except for statutory holidays or when and if the laboratory is closed, Mondays starts at 1pm.
  • Computer equipment: A dedicated workstation and dedicated desk space for the project on-site. VPN access to this workstation. HOWEVER:
  • It is assumed that you also have your own computer equipment for remote access and for use when required by circumstance to best complete the objectives of the project.
